Rounding the "Weekend of 1000 Fundraisers," Marti Gould Cummings graciously gave her Late Late Show spot to host an benefit show to raise funds for the American Heart Association. The Drag-a-thon featured a slew of performers including Cicatrix, the lady of the hour. Cicatrix, which means scar, had a heart surgery before moving to NYC so this benefit is near and dear to her. After Marti did a 90s mix, she performed a live sung Broadway mix for a former Elphaba in the crowd. Let's just say she was gagged. She also had her jaw to the floor when as she watched Cicatrix slay the house down with her witch mix. Spread out in the evening, we were given dueling live sung "Chandelier" performed by Jan Sport then Christina Nicole Miller, who offered a fantastic acoustic version. The rest of the night was a medley of mixes about anything and everything performed by Golden Delicious, Godiva Romance, Haireola Grande, and Rosé.
Having a platform and an opportunity to raise funds for important causes is essential in this community. Kudos to Marti for not only giving young performers a place to explore but for willingly raising money and awareness. Drag brings us together and this evening was proof.
