The Gospel According to...Anya Gibian

Name: Anya Gibian

Hometown: Ithaca, NY

Education: BS Cornell University

Who do you play in The Mysteries?: An Angel (The Angel Who Plays The Cello)

Tell us about The Mysteries:
The Mysteries is a choral mass. You hear the different voices of the playwrights, the different perspectives on old tales told in a new way, the variety of actors and experiences, the music of Angels. The story and style is constantly evolving and changing throughout the evening, while the sense of community and love is always there.

Describe The Mysteries in three words: All the stories.

What's the wildest costume you wear in The Mysteries?: Rotting Mummified Corpse

If you could be anyone from The Bible, who would you be?: I'd like to be one of the Egyptian Princesses, they had it pretty good.

Which company member is most likely to actually have lived during Biblical times?: Paul Thomas Truitt.

Which company member is most likely to be the Messiah?: Colin. Seriously the nicest, most loving person I've ever met.

Most likely to become an angel?: Allison Buck is an angel already. Or Eliza.

Most likely to hear voices in their head?: I'm pretty sure our sound designer Jeremy hears everything that is happening in the world all at once.

Who's the most spiritual?: Rebecca Rad. That girl is magic.

On the 8th day god said_____: We are going to feed the 70 people who came to see our show!

Are you going to heaven or hell?: I was never Baptized, so I'm probably just going to hang out in Limbo.

Which of the Seven Deadly Sins are you?:
I want to say Lust because that is the sexiest, but it's probably sloth or gluttony in actuality.

What's the biggest inside joke at The Mysteries?: HOLY GHOST!

What's your favorite moment from The Mysteries?: My favorite moment is constantly changing, but I love AJ Ditty as Doubting Thomas.  Probably the most fun is during the Billy Porter Gospel numbers, and Pentecost.  The moment that always melts me completely is in the Death of Christ between Joseph and Jesus, it's so full of love and sorrow.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of The Mysteries?: Working with 50 actors who constantly amaze and astound me with their level of talent and hard work.

Why should we come see The Mysteries?: Besides the World premiere of 50 plays, plus dinner and dessert, with music and dance, performed by over 50 talented emerging artists? You should come live in this world we've created because it's transporting and transforming.
