Spotlight On...Amy Marcs

Name: Amy Marcs

Hometown: Woodmere, NY

Education: Bachelors degree in Theater and Communications from Rider University.

Select Credits: Voice over artist signed with The Don Buchwald Agency. Have been heard on numerous national network television campaigns. Have worked in regional theaters throughout the country. Some of my favorite roles are Gorgeous in The Sisters Rosensweig, Myrtle in Kingdom of Earth, and Lucille in Gemini.

Why theater?: I have loved theater since I was a kid. I love the direct and immediate connection you have with an audience. Very powerful.

Tell us about Nice T*ts?: Nice Tits is my one woman show about my journey with Breast Cancer and undergoing a double mastectomy. It is a story about the resiliency of the human spirit, and finding hope and self acceptance in an extremely trying and difficult situation. And it's very funny, because I believe laughter is one of the best healing tools we have.

What inspired you to write Nice T*ts?: I felt called to write this show and share my experience. To give hope to women who are going through this, so they know they're not alone, and they are still beautiful, vibrant, and sexy.

What kind of theater speaks to you? What or who inspires you as an artist?: Theater that has an impact, that moves us. Life inspires me an an artist. To speak the truth no matter how absurd it may be. I love both comedy and drama, as long as it is truthful and speaks from the heart. Raw and honest.

Any roles you’re dying to play?: Lots!!! Sonia in Vanya and Sonia and Marsha and Spike, any of the sisters in August in Osage County and Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

What’s your favorite showtune?: My taste is so varied, it can range from Hedwig to Les Miserables to Avenue Q. I don't really have a favorite song though.

If you could work with anyone you’ve yet to work with, who would it be?: That's an extremely long list, there are so many amazing people I have yet to work with.

Who would play you in a movie about yourself and what would it be called?: It's a toss up between, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Mary Louise Parker, or Diane Keaton circa 1977. I guess it would have to be called "Nice T!ts", I mean why not have my show made into a movie.

What show have you recommended to your friends?: I recommend shows all the time. It really depends on what is running and what I have most recently seen.

What’s the most played song on your iTunes?: Right now it would have to be Pink, her song "Try".

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?: Eating an entire bar of organic milk chocolate while watching Scandal.

What’s up next?: I'm about to open my show Nice T!ts. Hopefully it will have a long and wonderful run!
